Reynir Aðalsteinsson is deceased

26 Jan 2012 - 11:38

Reynir Aðalsteinsson master in horse training departed yesterday morning Wednesday January 25th, following a short battle with malignant cancer....

Reynir was one of our most respected, expert horse rider and trainer within the Icelandic horse world, and his life´s work is invaluable. All his life, Reynir was an ambitious show- and competition person and always among the leading ones. His equitation was always elegant, his conduct was gentlemanly and his horses were both soft and satisfied. Reynir was very zealous when it came to sharing his knowledge and hundreds of riders, both here in Iceland as well as abroad has enjoyed his guidance.

For many years, Reynir lived with his family at his farm Sigmundarstaðir in Borgarfjörður, but moved to a different region in west Húnavatnssýsla about a decade ago. For the past years he lived at Hvanneyri and was the leading instructor at the Agricultural College. He prepared instructional material and studies for the common rider, which has been very popular. Reynir was 67 years old when he died. He leaves behind his wife and six grown up children.

Eiðfaxi sends its condolences to the relatives and friends of Reynir Aðalsteinsson.
