Eiðfaxi 2012 first edition
Eiðfaxi has been published and will arrive to its subscribers next week.
The focus in the first issue is matters concerning welfare of horses, and the reaction of the conclusions coming from the health checkup of competition horses at Landsmót 2011. The history and development of honor winning mares for their offspring is discussed thoroughly. Honor prize winning stallions of 2011 are also discussed and the master of horse shoeing Sigurður Torfi Sigurðsson discusses elbow injuries. The horse breeders, Ólafur Örn Þórðarson and Erna Guðrún Jóhannesdóttir, at the farm Skák (before at Búland) are interviewed, the affect of French riding art on Icelandic equitation is being analyzed.
The cover page is decorated by the horse trainer and riding instructor Jakob Svavar Sigurðsson and in the first three issues of Eiðfaxi magazine we will watch him training horses for maximum performance. A photo is taken of Gígja Dögg Einarsdóttir who is in the editorial board, where she is in the twilight one day in beautiful weather last January near Steinsholt in Leirársveit where Jakob runs his business. Jakob rides Funi frá Hofi and the stallion Skýr frá Skálakoti is trotting along.
