Research on hooves and horse shoeing

Soundness of hooves will be examined at Landsmót
The research University in Zurich and the Veterinary Hospital in Vejle, Denmark, have made an agreement with FEIF making research on the situation of hooves and horse shoeing on Icelandic competition horses. The scientists working on behalf of the institutions perform inspection on the horses’ feet on a few of the largest tournaments of the year, and among these is the Landsmót in Reykjavík.
The objective of this research is to evaluate the effectuality of the FEIR regulation on horse shoeing and footgear, which is meant to ensure healty hooves.
