Eiðfaxi.is meets with Siggi Mar in Holland

13 Feb 2010 - 13:30

Eiðfaxi.is was traveling in Holland the other day and dropped by Sigurður Marinusson, horse trainer, riding instructor and competition rider. Sigurður has lived in Holland since the year 2000.

Siggi Mar, like he is normally called has competed a few times on behalf of Holland at WC and last time he was competing on the pacer Eilima von Lindenhof. They ended in second place in the gæðinga pace.
Sigurður lives with his wife Irma and two sons on the farmland Strandhólar, which is close to the city Alkmaar. Strandhólar is situated very close to the coast where one can see the North Sea; according to Siggi Mar the coastline is a great place to train horses.

Close by there is a huge area with fun sandy hills where the couple often rides in order to offer diversity to their horses while training work and also to build up more endurance.
These days, the couple is working on a great task; they are in the process of building a new stable for 30 horses, a house for facilities as well as a riding arena. They look towards the future with optimism and say that there is great potential for the Icelandic horse in Holland.
