Landsmót in Reykjavík 2012

Today, the horse club Fákur and the Association of horse clubs, signed a collaboration agreement to host Landsmót for horse people in the year 2012 which will be held in the area of the horse club Fákur, Reykjavík.

Landsmót is held every two years and this Landsmót will be held in Reykjavík during the days June 24th until July 1st on the 90 year anniversary of the horse club Fákur.

When Landsmót is held many people attend, both local as well as foreign guests and at the last Landsmót there were about 14.000 guests and 1.100 horses registered for participation so that a big feast can be expected, because the Icelandic horse plays an important role in the hearts of many people. It can be expected that every 10th Icelander engages in regular horsemanship and every fifth tourist coming to Iceland will go horse riding.

The horse club Fákur and Landsmót ltd will start preparing the tournament in the spring and the aim is to host a great Landsmót for horsepeople and other guests.
