Another generation

17 Jun 2010 - 13:23

The objective of breeding horses is always to improve the coming generation and they say that the best breeding horses are those who produce offspring better than they are themselves.

It is not uncommon for horse people to produce promising offspring themselves, and often times the young generation is just as good in the saddle as the older generation.

During our travel around Norway recently, we say good examples of this. The young and very promising Isak Stiansson Pedersen managed to win both the tölt and four gaits in his age group at a large and very powerful horse tournament in Drammen.

Isak is the son of the world champion Stian Pedersen and Agnes Helga Helgadóttir who have also been very successful at the competition track. Ísak was riding the mare Lisa fra Jakobsgarden, who indeed is an offspring from the world champion Jarl frá Miðkrika. Jarl was the winner in tölt and four gaits in 2007 at the memorable moment when Ísak´s father was victoriously riding that horse. Ísak is both the breeder and owner of the mare Lisa and it will be enjoyable to watch this couple of the future, as the next generation of both horses and people looks very promising!
