The old stable at Hólar in Hjaltadal situated in the heart of the Hólar area now harbors the operation of the Saga heritage center of the Icelandic horse. The heritage center was officially opened for guests. Its operation and housing was blessed on Saturday August 14th.
Many people were present and it was the minister of education, Katrín Jakobsdóttir who officially opened the center. At the same time the first stage of three in the overview show called “The Icelandic horse” and the video-and photograph show called “The horse in the Icelandic nature” was opened.

At this occasion, Sigurður Sigmundsson brought the center a very hearty gift. He has given both Eiðfaxi and the Saga heritage center his entire collection of photographs which covers decades in time and thousands of photographs.
A more comprehensive coverage on the development of the Saga center of the Icelandic horse will be published in Eiðfaxi magazine this fall.
