Icelandic horses in Oman - video

29 Dec 2011 - 18:00

The first group of Icelandic horses has settled down in the Middle East....

At the beginning of December last, five mares and one gelding were transported from Germany to Oman in the Arabian Peninsula.

Henning Drath at  isibless accompanied Frank Heim and Thorsten Weiss to Oman, and through their instrumentality the sultan of the empire, Qaboos bin Said Al Said, bought six Icelandic horses. Horse riders from Oman are now being instructed about the basic technique of seat and training of the horses and according to our sources they are very impressed by the supple gaits of these horses, especially tolt. According to the German horse trainers, the horses are adjusting well to the heat and humidity. Their places of dwelling over there are in shadowy and air-conditioned places in very well equipped horse stables.

January 1st next, these horses will be presented for the first time publicly at a show in honor of the sultan.

Here below is a video showing the rehearsals of the six settlers and their riders.
